Open Day Weld Valley 1 August 2010

Wildlife Surveys.
Huon Valley Environment Centre is currently undertaking wildlife
surveys in the threatened forests of the Weld Valley. We have a sensor
camera set up in an ancient forest that is proposed for logging.
Following the lead of Still Wild Still Threatened and work done by Ed
Hill in the Florentine Valley. We recently gained footage of a
juvenile devil in the day in the forest, among other animals, possums,
pademelons and lyrebirds.
We are calling for donations for purchasing more cameras to set up in
more threatened forest areas. Please make your donation and show your
support for this recent and exciting new venture that campaigners are
making in the campaign to protect Tasmania's native forests.

Protest next week.
Huon Valley Environment Centre and Still Wild Still Threatened are
holding a protest next Monday.
The aim of the protest is to launch a campaign to pressure the group
of people in the industry who are blocking the solution to the forest
crisis that is proposed by conservationists. The people we are
targeting are Forestry Tasmania's Bob Gordon, Hans Drielsma, Ken
Jefferies, and Forest Industries Association of Tasmania Julian Amos
and Terry Edwards, and Forest Advisor to the Premier, Evan Rolley.
Now is an opportune time to step up the public campaign and advocate
for the protection of Tasmania's world class forests.
We are calling on people to join our protests.
Email jweber at nativeforest.net if you are interested in coming.
