Hi all,

One week from today, my partner Jenny (who will represent the HVEC), my two
children and I will fly to Melbourne in preparation for the Gunns20 trial
that begins on Feb 2nd. In the interim I will be working on developing our
case and finalising some last details to make sure we have the basic
infrastructure we need in Melbourne to conduct the case and the public
awareness campaign. This will include launching our new trial website this
week.

After more than 5 years we are pleased to be able to have our day in court
and defend ourselves from this outrageous attack on free speech and the
right to stand up for Tasmania's forests. I personally have been accused of
destroying bulldozers and assaulting loggers without even the smallest shred
of evidence. Those of you that know me, also know my strong commitment to
non-violence, so these accusations are so much more offensive to me.

We still hold out some faint hope that Gunns Ltd will come to their senses
and drop the case before trial, but considering their past form we are
pushing ahead to defend ourselves and our basic democratic freedoms.

This Friday 29th, we are hosting a great event (details below) to support
the case with Sen Bob Brown, Richard Flanagan, Pete Hay and Fiona Newson all
speaking. Please pass on this info and come along yourselves.

Thanks to everyone who has offered us support so far.

for the forests,
Adam Burling
