The threat of using our beautiful native forests in furnaces to create power
(both here and overseas) is very real.

We need to make this an important issue this election and get the community
behind us with a big NO to wood fired power generation.

The Huon Valley Environment Centre is hosting a community forum on Wood
Fired Power Stations at Judbury this Sunday.
Where: Judbury Memorial Hall (near the bridge at Judbury)
When: Sunday 28th February, 4-6pm

The forum offers an opportunity for local communities and interested
residents to hear recent information about plans for a proposed wood fired
power station at Southwood, west of Judbury. Speakers will cover the social
and environmental issues surrounding the current Southwood proposal, as well
as the broader international climate change issues surrounding wood fired
power stations. The forum will be followed by a screening of Wasting the
Woods, an informative film about native forest forest furnaces. This forum
is an opportunity to hear the other side of the story about wood fired power
and to tell our politicians that Tasmanian communities can generate a clean,
green future without burning our native forests.

Environment Tasmania and The Huon Valley Environment Centre are also hosting
a joint event on Thursday March 18th.
Where: Hobart Town Hall
When: Thursday 18th March, 12.30 - 1.30pm

More information about this public meeting will be available soon, please
mark the date and time in your diary now.

Wood fired power is going to be a big issue for Tasmania. We are currently
seeking donations to help pay for advertising, bus ads and posters, as well
as people to get involved and help distribute fliers and posters in their
area and get the word out to their members.

Please make sure you forward this email to your contact lists and anyone who
is interested in this issue.
