Gunns20 film night - celebrating the victory


This Wednesday 24th Feb, the State Cinema in North Hobart will host a night
to celebrate the defendants victory in the Gunns20 with films and speakers.
After 5 years, the remaining 4 defendants were dropped and paid compensation
just before trial in early Feb. This was a decisive win for the forests and
free speech.

"The Gunns20 case was a decisive win for the forests and free speech and a
disaster for Gunns Ltd. This event aims to tell the background story of some
of the defendants and what they went through, as well as celebrating a
victory for the community," said Jenny Weber, Huon Valley Environment
Centre.


Films include: 'Battle of Baker's Creek' (the Film at the centre of the
Gunns20 case) and the launch of new short films on the Gunns20 and the
Gunns13.

Speakers: Adam Burling (former Gunns20 Defendant) , Ula Majewski (Gunns13
defendant) and Cassy O'Connor (Tasmanian Greens MP)

Where: State Cinema, North Hobart
When:  Wed 24th Feb. 6pm-8pm
Entry by donation.
